Before their La Liga debut against Rayo Vallecano this weekend, Barcelona still has to register a few more players.

Due to La Liga’s stringent financial rules, Barca has been struggling with serious financial problems that must be resolved.

In order to comply and sign new players, the Catalan giants effectively had to sell off a significant portion of their future revenue.

That includes Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, both strikers.

Additionally, midfielder Franck Kessie, defenders Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen, and.

However, Barcelona still needs to appease La Liga and is currently seeking to use what is being referred to as a fourth “financial lever,” a sizable part in their commercial arm Barca Studios, in order to do so.

The veteran defender Gerard Pique has also had his wages reduced.

Although there is a perception inside the league that this may not happen all at once, La Liga believes that these adjustments will enable Barcelona to begin signing new players.

Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong’s future is uncertain in part due to Barcelona’s financial difficulties.

De Jong is a target for Manchester United, and Chelsea has also expressed interest.

De Jong’s Barcelona contract was restructured this season, and as a result, he is still owed millions in deferred wages.

The club wants the international from the Netherlands to stay, according to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

“Frenkie de Jong is a Barcelona player of great quality and we want him to stay,” Laporta told TV3.

“With him and his team-mates, we have a very powerful midfield.

“He has offers, but we want him to stay and he wants to stay too.”

Barcelona are also trying to move on a number of players, including defender Samuel Umtiti and forward Martin Braithwaite, who was booed before Sunday’s pre-season game against Pumas at the Nou Camp.

“They have understood that the best thing is to go play for another team,” said Laporta.

“Their contracts have always been respected, but the time has come when they have to take a step forward. This week they have to fix both of them.”
