After seeing Casemiro watch Manchester United defeat Liverpool on Monday, Raphael Varane believes the team is already winning thanks to the new player.
At Old Trafford, Casemiro was introduced to the crowd after completing his £70 million transfer from Real Madrid on Monday. Erik ten Hag’s team then put on their greatest performance of the year to further humiliate winless Liverpool.
After four Champions League triumphs at Real Madrid with Casemiro, Varane said:
“I know perfectly his quality. He can bring this balance to the team and his mentality. He’s a warrior, so I think he will really enjoy the English football. It was a perfect night for him to meet Old Trafford because the atmosphere was absolutely amazing, and he brings us a victory, so it’s nice.”
After chasing Frenkie de Jong all summer, Ten Hag has been anxious to sign a top-tier holding midfielder. He said Casemiro is a winner who would be the “cement” in United’s midfield, adding that both his signing and the victory will significantly improve the atmosphere at the team.
