According to reports, Brighton has given Chelsea permission to talk with Graham Potter about their open management position.

The London club fired Thomas Tuchel early on Wednesday morning following the team’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb.

Just months after taking the helm at Stamford Bridge, the German led Chelsea to victory in the European Cup in 2021. However, according to a statement from the Blues, the club has now been owned by Todd Boehly’s group for 100 days, and it is now the “appropriate moment” to make a change.

After six games, Chelsea is in sixth place in the Premier League, five points behind the league’s early leaders Arsenal. This is the club’s first summer transfer window following the sale of Roman Abramovich.

According to Sky Sports, Brighton has been contacted about the respected Potter and has given Chelsea permission to meet with their manager.

Chelsea would have to pay Brighton £16 million as a release clause in order to sign Potter away from Brighton.

The other prospects for the position include Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino, who are also without a job right now.
