England winger Raheem Sterling will return to Qatar prior to Saturday’s World Cup quarterfinal matchup against France.

The Chelsea player, 28, took a flight back to England on Sunday after his Surrey family home was broken into.

The representative for Sterling claimed that the reason the player departed the England camp was to “prioritize the wellbeing” of his three young children.

He was not there for England’s 3-0 victory against Senegal in the round of 16, but he is anticipated to rejoin the group on December 9 in Al Wakrah.

His representative had said Sterling’s family was at home on Saturday when there were “armed intruders”.The former Manchester City and Liverpool forward were reportedly “shaken” and worried for the welfare of his kids.

The owners of the home arrived to find jewelry and watches missing, and Surrey police stated they were looking into a report of a burglary, but no threats of violence were made.

The crime is not connected to another attempted burglary in the same area, the police stated on Wednesday.

Regarding the break-in at Sterling’s house, no arrests have yet been made.

The Football Association is yet to specify exactly what information was sent to it on the event before to Sterling’s departure.
