Due to Leandro Trossard’s negative attitude, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has left him out of the team for Saturday’s match against Liverpool.

De Zerbi claims that after learning he wouldn’t be making the starting lineup for the FA Cup victory against Middlesbrough last week, Trossard departed training early and without permission.

“He left the session without saying anything to me. And it’s not good,” said De Zerbi.

“I spoke with him and I explained this attitude, behaviour, I don’t like.”

Trossard, 28, is tied for Brighton’s best scorer this season with seven goals across all competitions, including a hat-trick against Liverpool in the season’s opening meeting at Anfield.

In Brighton’s five games since the World Cup break, he has started two of them, but he hasn’t played in either of their most recent two matches against Everton and Middlesbrough.

There have been rumors that the winger, who moved to Brighton in 2019 from Genk of Belgium, may leave the Seagulls this month.

“I am open with him to take a step back and listen to him but he has to understand with me, I want only players who work hard and play for the team 100%,” said De Zerbi, who succeeded Graham Potter as manager in September.

“I don’t know about the transfer market, if he wants to change teams or not.”

If Brighton wins at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, they would move up to seventh position in the Premier League, passing Liverpool (15:00 GMT).
