Tottenham Hotspur has revealed that head coach Antonio Conte will undergo surgery on Wednesday to have his gallbladder removed.
After being “unwell with terrible abdominal discomfort,” the 53-year-old Italian was diagnosed with cholecystitis, an inflammation of the gallbladder.
Sunday’s Premier League match between Spurs and second-place Manchester City will take place at home.
Conte will make a comeback, according to the club, “after a time of recovery.”
Tottenham continued, “Everyone at the club wishes him well.
With 36 points, Conte’s team is now ranked fifth in the Premier League, 14 points behind league-leading and rival Arsenal from north London.
