Leeds United manager, Javi Gracia, says his side does not need to use Chelsea’s struggling form as a source of motivation heading into the weekend’s fixture.

Leeds take a trip to London where they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with the aim of bouncing back to winning ways after the FA Cup loss to Fulham in midweek.

Chelsea are without a win in their last six games across all competitions while they have also managed just two wins in the last 16 games leaving Graham Potter under huge pressure.

But Gracia believes the game against the Blues will be competitive while adding that the players will have to look away from Chelsea’s bad form.

“The confidence we have is the work we are doing, not about the rivals in this case,” the 52-year-old said.

“I respect their team a lot and what we expect is a very demanding game, a tough game and we have to be ready for that.”

The game against Chelsea will be Gracia’s third game in charge of Leeds and hopes to repeat the same result against Chelsea as he did in the same game time when he took over Watford during the 2017/18 season.

The Spaniard said: “I remember it perfectly. I remember that game perfectly because it was my second (league) game, my first game at home.

“Like here, it was my third game. I played an FA Cup game, then Stoke and in my third game we won against Chelsea and I hope this year will be the same. My third game and I’ll try to get the same result.”
