Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has shown faith in Darwin Nunez once again following the forward’s display in the Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Uruguay international continues his adaption to life in England after joining the Merseyside club from Benfica in the summer.

With Liverpool splashing a whopping £64 million on the forward, expectations were very high with fans expecting him to hit the ground running immediately but the South American is still finding his feet.

Nunez has occasionally been unlucky, as VAR has prevented him from adding to a 12-goal haul. Nonetheless, Klopp is pleased with the development the 23-year-old has made as Liverpool seek to make him a potent forward.

“He is really getting there. Everybody can see. He’s just a handful and a proper threat. The goal he ‘scored’ was a super reaction and a super finish. The runs he had, one again down the line and in the end the cross doesn’t arrive, but pretty similar to the Everton goal,” Klopp told the media after the game on Wednesday night.

“Using his speed in both directions, offensively and defensively, it’s really good. He’s still a young boy. Everybody can see he will get there, no doubt about that. But for us he’s already super important.”

In 18 Premier League games, Nunez has missed 16 big chances and currently has six goals and three assists in 14 starts.
