Angola head coach Pedro Goncalves is confident of victory for his side when they face Ghana in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier later this month.

The Black Stars and Angola will be involved in a doubleheader on matchday three and four in Group E as they fight for a spot to be at next year’s AFCON.

The first encounter is set for the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23 with the return fixture taking place four days later.

Ahead of the two games, Goncalves believes the Palancas Negras are capable of seeing off competition from the Black Stars.

“We are going to play round three and round four against Ghana. They are one of the best teams in Africa, and we saw the power of the Black Stars at the last World Cup,” he said.

“They have a lot of very good players; they have more players abroad. We are going to face a powerful team in Africa but in our mind, we want to grow, play and challenge ourselves with the big teams.

“This is our mind as we face the Black Stars, so watch out for us, believe that we will face one-on-one and beat the Black Stars.”

Ghana, who will be playing under the tutelage of Chris Hughton as head coach for the first time on March 23, sit top of Group E after beating Madagascar and drawing with Central Africa Republic in their first two games of the qualifiers.
