With increasing pressure on Graham Potter, Chelsea will look to ease that a bit when they face Leeds United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams seem to find themselves in a similar position since the turn of the year. While Leeds have recorded just one win in their last eight games, Chelsea have also done the same in nine games.

Potter is said to be facing two decisive matches in a bid to keep his job after a disastrous run of just three victories in his last 17 games in charge. The first match is against Leeds on Saturday, and the second is a crucial Champions League last-16 second-leg match against Borussia Dortmund three days later.

With just two goals in their last 10 games across all competitions, goal-scoring has been a huge deal for the Blues under the English manager, who continually displays his disbelief and Gabon international, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Chelsea fans are understandably growing impatient after the club’s 2-0 loss to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, and the team’s fortunes need to change swiftly if they want to maintain their modest prospects of finishing in the top four. The Blues are currently in 10th place and 14 points behind Spurs in fourth place with a game remaining.

After losing 1-0 to bottom-dwelling Southampton two weeks ago—their ninth Premier League loss of the year—Potter will be hoping that his team can dramatically improve on their last home game against relegation strugglers.

Javi Gracia’s honeymoon with Leeds came to an early end after the Whites suffered a 0-2 crush in their FA Cup tie against high-flying Fulham having beat Southampton in his maiden game.

Leeds’ crucial victory over Southampton, which snapped a 10-game losing streak in the Premier League, puts them only one point above the relegation zone going into their match against Chelsea on Saturday.

With their lone victory in 12 away league games against Liverpool at Anfield at the end of October, the West Yorkshire team has earned the joint-fewest points (six) in the top flight on the road this season.

Things could also be worse on the day for Chelsea after news of Thiago Silva’s injury broke over the weekend. The Brazilian has been key to some of Chelsea’s best defensive plays and his absence could be a worry for Potter at the Bridge.
