Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte says his job could be on the line following the club’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

The North London side suffered an exit from the competition despite the 0-0 draw with AC Milan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night. The draw comes after Tottenham lost 0-1 away from home in the reverse fixture in Italy.

After suffering two cup losses in the span of seven days, the Italian manager remained in the locker room for about 30 minutes before coming on BT Sport to discuss the match.

Conte’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and the club’s performance has been patchy. As a result, speculation about his future is now certain to increase.

Speaking to the press about his future, Conte said: “My contract expires in June. We will see.
“They might sack me even before the end of the season, who knows, maybe they are disappointed.”

He continued: “I can’t tell you anything negative about the commitment of the players. I think they gave everything from the start until the end and we finished the game with 10 men.

“If I have to see a positive to the situation, it’s that last season we played Europa Conference League and we weren’t able to get past the group stage.

“This is a step forward but for sure it was not enough and we weren’t competitive enough.”

Tottenham return to action on Saturday, March 11, when they face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
