Ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League game against Real Betis, manager Erik ten Hag has warned his players to take lessons from the defeat to Liverpool.
The Re Devils suffered a 7-0 battering against Jurgen Klopp’s men last weekend at Anfield ending their unbeaten streak across all competitions since their last defeat to Arsenal in January.
United now turn their attention to European football where they face yet another Spanish opposition in Betis having eliminated Barcelona in the round of 32.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s fixture, the Dutch has urged his team to respond well with a win at Old Trafford.
“You don’t want to lose; we hate losing. And now we have to take the lessons and [start] a new run,” he said.
“[It was a] big defeat [against Liverpool] and we are all disappointed – we were mad. Now we have to reset and bounce back.
“We need a win, but we play a very good opponent. We have to be ready for that. We are aware that when we play our best we have a good chance to win.”
Betis booked a place in the last 16 of the competition after finishing top of Group C ahead of AS Roma Ludogorets and HJK.
