After bouncing back to winning ways in midweek, Manchester United will look to close the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s top two when they face Southampton on Sunday.

The Red Devils are looking to make it a run of 21 games unbeaten at Old Trafford with their last defeat at home coming against Real Sociedad in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League.

Man United have lost just one of their last five games in the league, suffering a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.

Southampton, on the other side, are hoping to take inspiration from last weekend’s win over Leicester City and upset United at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s side were 1-0 winners in the earlier fixture wjhen these two met at St. Mary’s Stadium back in August with Bruno Fernandes scoring the only goal of the encounter.

But all of that would have to be put in the past with the Saints playing under a new manager following the dismissal of Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Man United have been boosted by the return of Anthony Martial after his long injury lay off with Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen the only players out due to injury.

Southampton on the other side could welcome Ghana international Mohammed Salisu back into the starting lineup after the defender recovered from a knock.

Southampton, who now occupy the 20th position could move past the relegation zone with a win over Man United and that is what Ruben Selles will be hoping for following Bournemouth’s victory over Liverpool.

Manchester United are yet to lose in any of their last 10 meetings with Southampton across all competitions, keeping just three clean sheets in that period.
