Ryan Gravenberch, a Dutch midfielder, has signed a five-year contract with Bayern Munich after leaving Ajax.
The 20-year-old has ten caps for his country and has helped the Dutch champions win three league crowns.
Bayern Munich has paid €18.5 million (£16 million) for one of Europe’s most desired young talents, with the price tag potentially rising to €24 million (£20.5 million).
“When the offer came from Bayern I didn’t have to think about it for long – I’m coming to win lots of titles,” said Gravenberch.
He was linked with a move to Manchester United, where he would have played for former Ajax coach Eric ten Hag, but he says he had a “good feeling” about Bayern.
Gravenberch told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: “Manchester United is a very big and beautiful club. But I already had such a good feeling at Bayern and I had given my word.”
Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn said Gravenberch is a “highly interesting player who lots of Europe’s top clubs would’ve liked to have signed” while board member Hasan Salihamidzic called him “one of the biggest talents in Europe”.
