Midfielder of Asante Kotoko Fabio Gama says he didn’t dive for the Kotoko penalty but instead used his intelligence in what proved to be the pivotal moment in the Super Clash on Sunday.

The Brazilian was adjudged to have been fouled in the penalty box by Abdul Aziz Nurudeen early in the game before Frank Mbella converted from the spot for his 16th goal of the season.

The penalty was met with a lot of commentary with opinion divided as to whether it was the right call or not.

Speaking to the press after the game, Gama believed there was contact hence making the penalty call by referee Kennedy Paddy the right one.

“I didn’t dive. I was touched by the player that is why I fell. This is what I will say intelligence. The guy touched me and fouls are fouls so it was a penalty.”

The slender victory means the Porcupine Warriors maintain their eight-point lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League table.

The Kumasi-based club as a result also now sit 16 points clear of rivals Hearts of Oak.
