Matthew Anim Cudjoe has expressed confidence that he will be called up to the senior national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars qualified for the tournament in Qatar earlier this year after defeating Nigeria on the away goal rule.

Otto Addo and his team have been progressively training for the competition since then, playing two matches in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers and two games at the Kirin Cup in Japan most recently.

Despite not being a part of the team for any of those four games, the 18-year-old is confident that he will be given the chance to demonstrate his abilities on the world’s greatest platform.

“Yes of course [I’ll be called for World Cup]. We [Dundee United] qualified for the Europa League so I’ll be part of the squad. I’m in Ghana training very hard so I have confidence that the Black Stars will call me for the World Cup. I believe in myself so there is no problem. The pitch will decide,” he said on TV3 NewDay.

“I want to be part of this team [Black Stars] for the World Cup in November. That’s my dream for now so I’m working hard to get there,” he added

Dundee United recruited Cudjoe in November 2021, and he made his first-team debut in April of this year.
