Due to age fraud, Ghana’s Black Maidens will not participate in the following two U-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
In addition, Ghana won’t participate in the following two FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups as a result of the decision.
Ghana was given the suspension and a fine of $100,000 after being found guilty of fielding two players who were overage against Morocco in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shahadu of the Black Maidens were the two players whose ages were misrepresented and who participated in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, which Ghana won 2-0.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) was not able to refute the Moroccan FA’s accusation.
The verdict is still subject to appeal by the nation’s football governing body.
Due to their 4-2 loss to Morocco on penalties following a 2-2 deadlock after two legs, Ghana will not be competing in the U-17 Women’s World Cup in India in 2023.
