Barcelona contact Marco Asensio over possible summer transfer

With Marco Asensio’s contract with Real Madrid expiring at the end of the season, Barcelona is in touch with him about a potential summer transfer.

Just over five months remain on Asensio’s current deal, and there are currently little indications that he will sign a new one anytime soon. It was anticipated that he would go last summer, with Asensio switching to Jorge Mendes’ representation after parting ways with agent Horacio Gagglioli.

Sport has noted that Mendes and Barcelona have a close bond, and based on their knowledge, the Blaugrana have gotten in touch to ask whether he would be interested in bridging the gap.

Asensio said on Thursday that while it “didn’t depend on him,” he wanted to remain at Real Madrid. Since September, he has shown a fresh desire to stay at Real Madrid, but the closer we come to the conclusion of his contract, the less likely it appears he will be given a new one.

Asensio has been linked to Barcelona since September, when it seemed certain that he would move in the summer. In the upcoming markets, the Blaugrana plan to actively pursue free agents.
