For the first time under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool is at risk of going six games without a win when they visit Elland Road to face Leeds United on Monday.

In their most recent match, Javi Gracia’s team was destroyed 5-1 by Crystal Palace, while the Reds rallied from two goals behind to hold Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Leeds’ loss to the Eagles was just their second defeat in their last five top-flight games, and just their fifth home loss of the season, but their defense has allowed at least two goals in four of those games, and they are tied for the division’s second-leakiest unit with Nottingham Forest on 54 goals conceded.

Gracia said his team’s defeat to Palace was inexcusable, but he argued that Leeds can still defeat “anyone” on their good days. Confirming those audacious claims with a win over Liverpool right away would help appease the Elland Road fans.

Liverpool enters the match on Monday in eighth place in the standings. Regardless of what happens on Monday, the Reds will not overtake any of their fellow European contenders because Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa also won on Saturday.

Even though there were many positives to take away from their performance against Arsenal in the second half, Klopp’s team has now lost all five of their games; they haven’t gone this long without a win since the Hodgson era in 2010 and they only have three road victories this Premier League season.

The Whites haven’t defeated the Reds at Elland Road in the Premier League since Mark Viduka single-handedly destroyed the Merseyside club with four goals in a 4-3 spectacular in 2000-01. Moreover, Liverpool’s lone home league defeat this season came against Leeds in dramatic fashion in October.
