Chelsea vs Brentford prediction, odds and preview

On Wednesday night, the West London derby takes place at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea hosts Brentford in the Premier League.

Both the Blues and the Bees have yet to win in April, with the Blues still looking for their first victory under interim manager Frank Lampard.

Just one goal was scored throughout four games and four losses. Lampard’s arrival hasn’t had the impact Chelsea’s owners had thought it would, and the West Londoners now have seven Premier League games left to try to salvage anything from a disastrous 2022–23 season.

Chelsea enters Wednesday’s match having previously drawn a blank against Brentford this season, playing out a goalless draw away from home in October. Only four teams in the Premier League have scored fewer goals than Chelsea (30) this season, three of which are in the relegation zone.

However, Chelsea has triumphed in six of their past eight home matches against the Bees, and picking up three much-needed points on Wednesday would provide them a major lift before facing the difficult task of traveling to face league leaders and London rivals Arsenal the following week.

Brentford has dropped to 10th place in the table and is now seven points behind seventh-placed Liverpool, who have a game in hand. They have lost all four of their recent top-flight games in which they have scored first, and their chances of qualifying for Europe for the first time in their history are dwindling.

However, Thomas Frank’s team is still on track to finish in the top half of the Premier League, which they can do with a victory over 11th-placed Chelsea, who are now five points farther behind.

Brentford has won just three of its 16 away games in the top flight this season, but they may be confident against Chelsea after beating them 4-1 last season.
