Real Madrid return to league action on Tuesday night when they travel to San Sebastien to play Real Sociedad in the first of their final few games in La Liga.

Madrid were 4-2 winners over Almeria over the weekend with Karim Benzema scoring a hattrick while Rodrygo Goes also grabbed a goal as Carlo Ancelotti’s men produced yet another great show at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ancelotti’s boys are still second on the table, 11 points behind leaders Barcelona, with Real Sociedad in fourth place, eight points ahead of fifth-placed Villarreal.

Sociedad on the other hand secured a 2-0 win away from home against Osasuna to maintain their fourth position on the league table after 32 games played.

The White and Blues are in pole position to qualify for the Champions League next season, which would be their first top-four finish in Spain’s top flight in ten years.

Imanol Alguacil’s team, which has finished sixth in two of the last three seasons, has 28 points from 15 home league games this season, but they will face a Real Madrid team that has 31 points from 16 away games, which is the second-best record behind Barcelona.

Unless something special happens, Madrid are certain not to win the league with Barcelona 11 points ahead of their bitter rivals at the top and only six games remaining.

Madrid are battling for second place with Atletico Madrid, but it is fair to say that their focus is currently on the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, with the capital giants aiming to win both titles in the later parts of the season.

Madrid will face Sociedad without key players Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga who are both suspended while Benzema has also been handed a rest ahead of the Copa del Rey final.
