Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says he has no issues with his players debating among themselves after games as it is their duty to ensure they get the needed results.

His comments came after the Dutchman was asked about the spat between Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro following the weekend’s 1-0 win against Aston Villa.

After the game, the Brazilian chastised his United teammate for losing the ball with seconds remaining on the clock.

The enraged confrontation was captured on camera and instantly went viral on social media.

Ten Hag, on the other hand, has claimed that he has no problem with his players arguing and has actively encouraged more on-field discussions as long as they produce results.

He told manutd.com: “They have to communicate. They have to organise it and make sure we get a win.

“So when they are talking to each other, in discussion, debating with each other, I don’t have a problem with that.

“It shows the willingness and showed ambition from this team.”

Fernandes netted the game’s only goal against Villa in a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.

But that might just have been enough to secure United’s place in the Champions League next season, keeping a refreshed Liverpool away from the fourth spot.

The Red Devils lead Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool by four points despite playing two games less than the Merseysiders.

United will play Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Thursday night, and another three points will only increase their hopes of finishing in the top four.
