Arsenal has been struck another major blow, with both William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko ruled out for the remainder of the season.

According to The Athletic, both players are injured and will not return to the Gunners’ Premier League campaign as they chase a first title in 20 years.

In March, Saliba suffered a back injury in the Europa League last-16 loss to Sporting Lisbon.

In that time, he’s missed eight first-team games, a considerable number after making 33 appearances thus far this season.

In the absence of the Frenchman, Rob Holding was brought in to join Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, he was culpable of bad performance, with Jakub Kiwior replacing the ex-Bolton man, who has impressed in recent triumphs over Chelsea and Newcastle.

The Polish defender joined the club in January and had to wait for his first Premier League start.

Left-back Zinchenko was pulled off during the Magpies’ triumph at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Kieran Tierney was brought in to replace the Ukrainian star who had a calf injury that initially appeared serious.

Tierney, who has started just five Premier League games this season, is facing an unclear future at the club.

But he now has a chance to impress coach Mikel Arteta and any other manager who might be considering a move for the Scotland international.

Arsenal have three games left this season, taking on Brighton, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves in an attempt to reduce the gap on leaders Manchester City.
