Following their mauling of Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek, Everton will be posed to take all three points in their against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Toffees host Manchester City knowing the latter are looking to wrap up the Premier League with Arsenal closely on their necks.

Sean Dyche’s team surprised the football world earlier this week by thrashing Brighton 5-1 hours before the City drew 1-1 with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

Everton will enter the gameweek hovering just above danger in 17th place, having ended a seven-game winless run in the Premier League in emphatic fashion, though they could be demoted back into the bottom three on Saturday if Leeds United pull off their own surprise win over Newcastle United.

The Toffees haven’t won back-to-back Premier League games since early October, but Sean Dyche’s men should be on a high right now, and Arsenal were served a slice of humble pie the last time Everton welcomed a table-topping outfit to Goodison Park in February.

But for Kevin de Bruyne’s brilliant strike at Santiago Bernabeu which earned a draw in Spain, Pep Guardiola would probably be thinking about some tough decisions to make against Everton.

The visit of Real Madrid will no doubt be on the minds of the Etihad faithful, but Guardiola and co must not be distracted from their domestic duties as they seek a fifth top-flight away win in a row – one that would temporarily put them four points clear of Arsenal before the Gunners face Brighton later.

Man City have only surrendered four points at home this season, two against Everton on New Year’s Eve, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Toffees, but the champions have a five-game winning streak at Goodison Park since being defeated 4-0 in January 2017.
