With the Premier League title ready to be wrapped up, Manchester City will turn their attention to the Champions League semifinal second-leg game against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola and his boys are chasing a treble this season but will first need to jump over the Madrid hurdle at Etihad Stadium in midweek.

The first encounter between these teams at Santiago Bernabeu ended 1-1 with Vinicius Jr and Kevin de Bruyne scoring for Madrid and City respectively to produce a pulsating game.

They both come into this fixture on the back of victories over the weekend with Los Blancos narrowly beating Getafe courtesy of a late strike from Marco Asensio while Ilkay Gundogan’s brace and Erling Haaland’s header ensured the Cityzens were 3-0 winners over Everton.

Playing at home, City know they will have their fans to their advantage but will need to be wary of the character with which the Spanish side play with in this competition as was the case last season when they beat Madrid 4-3 in England.

The good news obviously for City is that Madrid has never won at the Etihad and will be hoping that winless run could continue when they face them once again.

Madrid have also failed to progress in any of their semifinal games where they have drawn the first leg at home.

City are a win from winning the Premier League and have already booked a slot in this season’s FA Cup final, where they will face Manchester United.
