On Saturday in the Premier League, Liverpool will play host to Aston Villa with the hope of extending their fine run of form.

Liverpool may still qualify for the UEFA Champions League when they play Aston Villa next. However, their hopes are on thin ice, and they cannot afford to make a mistake now. To have any hope of competing in the Champions League next season, the Reds must win their remaining matches as they are now one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, are currently eighth in the league standings and are currently behind Brighton & Hove Albion, who are in sixth position, by one point. They have made significant progress under Unai Emery, and they will now try to finish the season as highly as they can in order to push for European qualification.

Aston Villa, having gone undefeated in four of their past six league games, will attempt to shock Liverpool.

With 200 games played between the two teams, Liverpool has an excellent record against Aston Villa and has won 101 of those games, compared to 59 wins for Aston Villa.

Only Manchester United and Chelsea have worse records in the Premier League versus Liverpool than the six losses they have suffered at home to Aston Villa.
