Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has revealed winning the Premier League title was a relief after his side had to chase Arsenal all season.

Man City won the title for the third consecutive time and their fifth in the last six years after spending the majority of the season behind Arsenal.

Despite Arsenal staying top for 248 days, they are set to end the 2022/23 season in second position, losing the league title to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Draws against Liverpool, West Ham United and Southampton played a role in the title slipping out of the hand of the Gunners but it was to the delight of Haaland, who is only playing his first season in the English top flight.

“I saw a stat of Arsenal being 240-something days top of the table, and we were like 20. We were chasing the whole season and to get hold of it was such a relief and such an amazing feeling,” he said.

“With all the experience in this club, they won the Premier League for the fifth time. A lot of them the hard work throughout the whole season is what you get in the end. It’s better to win it [after the hard work] because it’s a marathon and not just one game.”

Manchester City will face Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford in their last two games of the league season.
