Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says Antony suffered a ‘serious’ injury in their win over Chelsea while Luke Shaw also seems to have an issue from Thursday night’s fixture at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils cruised to a 4-1 win over the struggling Blues at Old Trafford, but the success – which clinched a top-four finish and Champions League qualification – came at a cost.
Brazil international Antony fell to the ground in anguish after a challenge from Trevoh Chalobah, leaving the pitch in tears and on a stretcher after only 29 minutes, while England left-back Shaw was replaced at half-time by Tyrell Malacia.
When asked for an update on the two ailing stars, Ten Hag responded: “It’s difficult always to say, straight after the game, but, yeah, Antony is serious. Luke Shaw, we have to see. I don’t think it’s too bad but we have to wait 24 hours. We’ll have a diagnosis and we will know more.”
“I don’t know [about Antony]. Everyone has seen he came off. I can tell you it is serious but we have to wait a minimum [of] 24 hours, then we know probably more about the status of the injury,” ten Hag added when asked about the possible return dates for the two.
United will face Fulham in their final league game on Sunday before playing Manchester City in the FA Cup final on June 3.
