Southampton and Liverpool will clash at St. Mary’s on Sunday in the final matchday of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Southampton are the only team that has so far been relegated as the Premier League season comes to a close. The Saints have endured a season to forget, complete with repeated managerial changes and a poor record.

They have only won six games this season and have lost 25. They have only scored 32 goals, which is second only to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Current manager Ruben Selles will leave in the summer, and the Saints face a bleak summer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s faint hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League were dashed on Thursday night as Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford. The Reds will finish fifth in the table this season, having failed to surpass Newcastle United or the Red Devils to secure a top-four position.

The Reds come into this game on the back of a 1-1 tie with Aston Villa. It remains to be seen whether they can regain their winning ways. Meanwhile, Southampton are currently relegated to the EFL Championship after finishing bottom of the league table.

The Saints will be hoping to reclaim some pride and give the home fans something to smile about as the season comes to an end at home.
