Jude Bellingham says he ‘just couldn’t turn down’ Real Madrid

England international Jude Bellingham has revealed the opportunity to play for Real Madrid was too good he couldn’t reject it.

The 19-year-old was officially announced by Real this week with the Spanish side signing him for 103 million Euros from Borussia Dortmund.

With the figure quoted, Bellingham also becomes the most expensive teenager of all time beating the previous record held by Ousmane Dembele.

Speaking at his unveiling on Thursday, the former Birmingham City midfielder said there was no way he was going to turn down the chance to play for the Spanish giants.

“I’ve not just come here because of the size of the club. Obviously, it is huge but when the guys pitched the vision of the team, I was completely involved and all in,” said Bellingham.

“It’s not just ‘we’re Real Madrid, we want you to come and join for us’. That is enough for me, to be honest, but then the ideas they had were so good, it’s just so exciting and an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”

Quizzed about when he had decided to choose Real, he added: “I had the meeting where they came to my house and I was sold.

“I was at the [Champions League] final in 2022 when they beat Liverpool. That was another huge factor. There were a load of things that go into making a decision to join this club.”
