Black Stars goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott has signed for Scottish side Hibernian Football Club ahead of the new season.

The 26-year-old was announced on Friday as a new recruit after penning a three-year contract with the club.

Wollacott joins Hibernian after just a year with League One side Charlton Athletic where he featured in 16 league games before suffering a finger injury.

Lee Johnson, who worked with Wollacott, during their time at Bristol City has expressed delight at reuniting with the Ghana international.

“He’s athletic, brave, and confident and, with big competitions coming up, it’s important we’re strong in the goalkeeping department,” said Johnson.

“He’s a player I’ve known for some time and it’s great to see that he’s starting to fulfil his potential. He now has over 100 games under his belt and has played on the international stage with Ghana.”

Wollacott, who missed last year’s World Cup owing to a finger injury suffered during his final pre-tournament warm-up, will compete with captain David Marshall as the starter for the Hibs.

After spending seven years at Bristol City, he joined Swindon Town on loan for the 2021-22 season before joining The Addicks in League One last summer.
