Ibrahim Tanko has openly lamented the mistakes that led to the late goals that Ghana conceded in a 3-2 victory over Congo on Sunday.
The Black Meteors raced into a three-goal lead before giving up two goals within a minute in stoppage time.
Although Ghana still picked up the much-needed three points, Tanko said the technical staff will focus on avoiding similar mistakes in future group games.
“I am happy we won but I am very angry about my players and to concede two goals after 90 mins is unacceptable. We have a day to prepare for the next match”.
“Congo did very well. We started well in the first 20 minutes but they dominated the rest of the first half. We brought on two substitutes and got our goals but are not happy about the two goals we conceded”.
“Some of the players showed tiredness and I was not happy with the body language of some of the substitutes. We will address these things and we hope that the next game will be better “.
“We are going to watch the game again and see where we fell shot and prepare for the next game”, he said at the post-match press conference.
On June 25, Ghana will play Morocco in the second round of the group stages. Tanko is optimistic about his team’s preparation despite the short turnaround.
“Both teams won our opening games so we are going to prepare well for the game and ensure that we get good results”, he added.
Tuesday’s between hosts Morocco and Ghana will be played at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium and will kick off at 20:00 GMT.
