Mason Mount says he will have a new challenge for himself following the completion of his move to Manchester United.
The 24-year-old’s move to Old Trafford was made official on Wednesday, July 5, with the Red Devils announcing the player’s arrival.
Mount puts pen to paper on a five-year deal at the club following his decision to quit Chelsea with just a year left on his contract.
Speaking following the announcement of the deal, the England international said: “It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career.”
“Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.”
The English midfielder was a Champions League winner with the Blues during the 2020/21 season and went ahead to win the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup titles.
Mount has made 36 appearances for England and played a key role in the Three Lions run to the European Championship final in 2021.
The player made official his intent to leave Chelsea on Tuesday night, sharing a video on social media to bid the club and its fans farewell after signing his contract with the Red Devils.
