Mason Mount completes Manchester United move from Chelsea

Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea.

The England international signs a five-year deal with the Red Devils with an option to extend for another year until June 2029.

The 24-year-old ends his stay with his boyhood club after failing to agree on terms for a contract extension with Man United acting swiftly to secure his signature.

Man United sign the player for an initial £55 million with adds-ons set to command an additional £5 million.

Mount, during his professional career, has made 279 club appearances, scoring 58 goals and contributing 53 assists.

He was also named Chelsea’s Player of the Year on two occasions in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.

The English midfielder was a Champions League winner with the Blues during the 2020/21 season and went ahead to win the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup titles.

Mount has made 36 appearances for England and played a key role in the Three Lions run to the European Championship final in 2021.

The player made official his intent to leave Chelsea on Tuesday night, sharing a video on social media to bid the club and its fans farewell after signing his contract with the Red Devils.
