England midfielder Jordan Henderson has said his goodbyes to Liverpool and its fans ahead of his anticipated transfer to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ettifaq.
The Saudi side and Liverpool reached an agreement earlier this month for the transfer of the player which will see him join former teammate Steven Gerrard.
Ahead of the official announcement of the deal, the England international posted an emotional farewell on his social media page.
The former Liverpool skipper wrote: “It’s hard to put these last 12 years into words and it’s even harder to say goodbye. I will always be a Red. Until the day I die. Thank you for everything. You’ll never walk alone.”
Henderson made 492 appearances for the Merseyside Club during his 12 years stay at the club.
Liverpool are expected to receive £12 million from the Saudi Pro League side from the deal.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have already made midfielder additions this season with the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
