Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has called for more reinforcements ahead of the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season despite being happy with the squad.
The Red Devils have made three signings so far this season with the arrival of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund so far in the transfer window.
The club are also looking to offload players in the coming weeks with Harry Maguire, Scott MacTominay and Fred all on the market following the departure of Anthony Elanga and Nathan Bishop.
Speaking with Football Daily, Ten Hag revealed his desire to have competition in the team.
“We need all positions doubled because of the number of games we have to cover. You need competition, you always have to deal with suspension, with injuries [and] with the form — certain players are not the ones you expect. You have to deal with it also from tactical perspective. We need double positioning,” he said.
“Every player needs a perspective to play. I am happy with the squad and I want a strong squad and I want competition in this squad.”
Manchester United will begin their league campaign on Monday, August 14, when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.
