Liverpool midfielder Alexis MacAllister singled out Enze Fernandez for praise following the Reds’ stalemate with Chelsea over the weekend.
The Chelsea midfielder was one of the brightest spots on the pitch at Stamford Bridge as the two teams played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in their Premier League opener.
Luis Diaz gave Liverpool the lead early in the game before Axel Disasi scored his debut goal in his maiden appearance for the Blues on Sunday to draw Chelsea level with the game recording no more goals.
Fernandes enjoyed a good game against his countryman and the latter was quick to hail the performance of the former Benfica star.
“I have played with him, he is a great player, I respect him a lot, I have a great relationship,” Mac Allister said.
“Today he showed why they paid what they paid for him, why he is here and it makes me happy for him, obviously.”
Fernandez joined Chelsea in a club-record transfer in January 2023, only weeks after winning the World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament award. That record is about to be broken, however, with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo ready to join Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
