Moises Caicedo is the perfect player for this project – Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has described Moises Caido as the ‘perfect player’ for the club’s project after beating Liverpool to his signature.

Caicedo joined the Blues from Brighton and Hove Albion after a long transfer saga which included the Reds. The two clubs were locked in a transfer fight for the youngster but the player decided to join the London side.

Pochettino praised the club’s hierarchy for wrapping up the player’s signing ahead of Liverpool.

“We all know him, his quality and his profile,” Pochettino said ahead of the game against West Ham United this weekend.

“I think he is the perfect player for this project. We are excited and we are so happy to have him in the squad,” Pochettino added. “The club worked really, really hard [to sign Caicedo].

“I would like to congratulate the owners, the sporting directors, everyone involved because the job was amazing. To add this sort of player like Moises, or Romeo now, I think it was a fantastic work from the club.

“We need to congratulate the job they are doing, the owners and the sporting directors because it was fantastic. This type of player, with the qualities they have, to come into this squad and to this project. It’s really exciting moment and situation for the club.”

Caicedo and Romeo Lavia are both in line to make their debut for the club when they play West Ham.
