Thomas Tuchel could lose Bayern Munich dressing room – Lothar Matthaus

Former Bayern Munich star Lothar Matthaus has warned Thomas Tuchel over behaviour that could see him lose the dressing room at the club.

After winning just the German Bundesliga title last season, Bayern Munich started the 2023/24 season with a defeat to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup, a fixture watched by many.

Tuchel screamed in rage after his team’s defeat to Leipzig and offered no explanation for his team’s performance, instead levelling many aggressive charges against his players.

According to Matthaus, the Bayern squad will not take Tuchel’s words lightly.

Matthaus writes in his Sky column (via Sport Bild) that “there were very critical statements by the coach after the game. They reminded me of last season. I am sure that this will cause a lack of understanding and shaking of the pros’ heads.”

The German coach had gone on to say that new signing Harry Kane “probably thinks” the team hadn’t trained for the last four weeks.

“If he’s not careful,” writes Matthaus, “he won’t get through the dressing room as he should. This can quickly become dangerous for him. Overall, I was very surprised by his statements.”

The Mathaus also criticised Tuchel’s decision to let Kane play in that fixture before making his second appearance in the Bundesliga opener.
