Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko has picked Thomas Parte ahead of Casemiro in a defensive midfield comparison.

The two players have been the subject of argument between football fans since Casemiro’s arrival at Manchester United last summer.

Partey enjoyed his best season in an Arsenal shirt last season and was close to helping the side end their league trophy drought while Casemiro was also crucial in United securing UEFA Champions League football for the new season in his debut campaign.

In a recent interview FIVE presenter Joel Beya, Zinchenko admitted he would the Ghana international ahead of Casemiro for the defensive midfield position.

The Ukrainian also went ahead to speak about his former teammates Rodri and Fernandinho, who he shared the dressing room with while at Manchester City.

“I don’t want to say something bad. Casemiro is a world-class player, five Champions Leagues. But if I had to choose, it would be Partey.

“I had the debate in my head, who is the best holding midfielder I have ever played with – it was between Fernandinho, Rodri and Partey. It is a tough one. I watched Fernandinho when he was at Shakhtar and he helped me so much. I love him like an older brother.”

Zinchenko came off the bench for Arsenal against Fulham on Saturday as he continues his recovery from a calf problem.
