Chelsea manager manager Mauricio Pochettino refused to talk about the club’s imminent signing of Cole Palmer, claiming he knows nothing about it.

The Blues are set to complete the signing of the England youth international from Manchester City after the two clubs reached an agreement last night.

Palmer has had a good start to the 2023/24 season scoring two goals already for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Following the defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield, Guardiola admitted the club would not consider a loan transfer for the player as he would either stay or have to be sold permanently.

Palmer seems to be on the path for the latter but Pochettino did not comment about the arrival of the young winger.

“I don’t know anything at the moment,” he said. “I cannot talk about players that don’t belong to us. What I can say is nothing at the moment. The club didn’t tell me. I don’t want to talk about a player that has still not signed.

“Maybe yes, maybe no (there will be more transfer business). Maybe you know better than me what is going on.”

Chelsea recorded their second win of the season on Wednesday night after coming from behind to beat lower-tier side AFC Wimbledon.
