Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has complained about the congested fixture scheduled in Europe’s club football.
According to the France international, players have been tasked with a whole lot of games in the football calendar.
He has asked for the football associations to come up with a more relaxed calendar while also asking for players to speak up.
Tchouameni was speaking ahead of France’s away game against the Netherlands in the Euro qualifiers.
“Obviously, we’re playing too many matches. It’s leading to injuries. At some point, the players should do or say something,” he said at a press conference.
“These days, it’s rare to have one match a week. It’s up to the authorities and the players to bang their fists on the table.
“We get the impression that it’s not going to get any better with new competitions. Something has to be done. When it’s too much, it becomes a problem.”
In each of Real Madrid’s 11 games this season, the 23-year-old French midfielder has played a total of 843 minutes in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
He has only made one appearance as a substitute so far this campaign.
