Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo is hopeful of wearing the Portugal colours at the 2024 European Championships next year.
The 38-year-old scored a brace against Slovakia as Portugal booked their place in the tournament to be staged in Germany next summer.
By scoring two goals last night, Ronaldo netted his 72nd and 73rd international career goals since turning 30.
While the forward may not be as sharp as he was during his peak, he still believes he has what it takes to play for the national team at next year’s tournament.
“I hope I will be at Euro2024 as there is still a lot of time left. I hope I won’t have any problem or injury, I hope to play,” he said after the game.
“I left Portugal early but it will always be my home. They support me in every stadium in Portugal.”
Ronaldo also refused to talk about his club future adding that he is looking forward to enjoying what is ahead.
“I don’t think about the future, I think about the short term and i always try to enjoy the moment,” he continued.
“I love playing for the national team. We played well and we qualified because we have an excellent team, an excellent coach like Martinez.”
