Black Stars boss Chris Hughton, following defeat to the United States of America on Wednesday, emphasised that he is the right man for the coaching job despite recent results.

Ghana suffered a humiliating  4-0 defeat in an international friendly at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

Goals from Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun and a brace from Giovanni Reyna, all in the first half, ensured victory for the Americans on Wednesday morning.

Hughton has now lost back-to-back games after losing 2-0 against Mexico earlier over the weekend.

“If you ask me if I feel like I’m the right person for this job, the answer is yes,” the Irish manager said when quizzed at the post-match conference.

He also admitted that the team is expected to endure a difficult period but will surely get back to the top.

“We are all going through a difficult period with regards to the performances that can see us scoring goals to win games, that has been difficult”

“There are some aspects of the game that have been okay. We have qualified for AFCON and we did enough to win the group not just to qualify and that’s the balance”

“The balances are from there, we need to develop more because we are going to a tough AFCON tournament in January and we need to develop. I will continue to work as hard as I can to pick the right squad, pick the right tactics to win the games we need to win to do well” he said.

Ghana will reassemble in November for the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
