Al Hilal forward Neymar Jr picked up a serious injury during Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on Wednesday morning.
The winger had to be carted off the field in the first half after going down in pain in the additional time of the first half.
Neymar Jr. fell clutching his leg shortly before halftime after clumsily landing his foot while battling a pass.
As he headed off the pitch into the locker room, the Al-Hilal SFC player was seen in tears.
The extent and particular location of his injury are still unknown.
The footballer landed in Saudi Arabia injured and had only recently returned to the pitch. This was his first call-up to Brazil since the spring.
His current injury raises concerns in the Canarinha, as his injury history does not inspire confidence that he will be able to return to the field very soon.
Uruguay were 1-0 ahead before Nyemar’s injury with Darwin Nunez scoring the opening goal of the game.
They also scored in the second half to register their first win over Brazil since 2001.
