England international Mason Mount says he is determined to succeed in the Manchester United number 7 jersey despite the pressure.
Mount joined the Red Devils during the summer transfer window from Premier League rivals Chelsea after coming through the academy.
The midfielder was given the iconic No.7 shirt at Old Trafford less than a year following the departure of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mount is yet to score but has registered one assist in six games across all competitions for Erik ten Hag’s men.
Mount in an interview says he is determined to flourish in the shirt even with the pressure that comes with it.
“Of course, I know the pressure that comes with no. 7 shirt… but I like it,” he said.
“I want to perform in it and it is a massive, massive club and an iconic number so it really means a lot to me. I have been a fan of the likes of Beckham growing up as a kid.”
Despite playing a chunk of games last season, Mount had a tough time at Stamford Bridge last season, scoring three goals and providing six assists.
