Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has expressed his disappointment in the club’s DFB Pokal exit on Wednesday night against CF Saarbrucken.

The Bundesliga champions were dumped out of the competition after suffering a 2-1 defeat to the lower-tier side with the manager left stunned after the game.

Thomas Muller’s opener for Bayern was cancelled out by Patrick Sontheimer right before the break before Marcel Gaus grabbed the winner for the hosts in injury time.

Tuchel took to the media after the game saying: “We weren’t arrogant or took it lightly. There are 100 explanations or none. It feels strange”.

“Everyone who says we have to win here is right. There’s no clever explanation, we are extremely disappointed”.

Bayern still have two major competitions in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League to compete. However, Tuchel insists the team must get better for the club to compete at the highest level.

Bayern return to Bundesliga action this weekend and take on Dortmund in De Klassiker away from home with Tuchel’s men looking to bounce back from the defeat to entrench themselves on top in the Bundesliga.
