AC Milan will host Udinese at San Siro on Saturday evening, looking to return to winning ways after falling from first to third place in Serie A.

While Milan had lost back-to-back games before a thrilling draw with Napoli last weekend, Udinese were knocked out of the Coppa Italia in midweek.

The away side on Saturday is yet to win a league game this season after 10 games played, drawing seven and losing three in the period.

Milan’s 2-2 draw with Napoli may feel like a case of two points dropped after Olivier Giroud’s first-half brace had put them in command at Stadio Maradona last Sunday.

But Stefano Pioli’s men were unable to protect their lead against the defending league champions as Napoli stormed back in the second half to snatch a point from the encounter.

Udinese’s 3-1 victory over Milan earlier this year was their first Serie A win over the third-placed side in seven attempts, but replicating the result this weekend appears to be a hard border for the Fruili.

Their league performances have been far from convincing while they have also struggled to get positive results away from home this campaign.

Defeat to Milan could push Udinese into the relegation zone as they are just better as against Empoli on goal difference.
