Bayern Munich suffered an early exit from the DFB Pokal in midweek but have an opportunity to bounce back to winning on Saturday when they face Borussia Dortmund.

The two teams rekindle their rivalry at Signal Iduna Park with Bayern paying a visit for the first time this season.

Lower-tier side Saabrucken pulled a surprise move on the Bavarians as they handed them defeat in round two of the German Cup competition despite the latter scoring first.

Dortmund, on the other hand, claimed a 1-0 win over Hoffenheim in midweek with Marco Reus scoring the only goal of the encounter at home.

A return to league action sees them face their arch-rivals looking to climb above them on the league table with just two points separating them.

Bayern are second on the table with two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen while Dortmund are locked on 21 points after nine games played so far.

As long as the league is subject, Dortmund have not enjoyed any favours playing Bayern. Edin Terzic’s men lost eight of the nine meetings with Bayern while the other game ended in a draw.

Dortmund’s last win over Bayern in the league dates back to November 2018 when they claimed a 3-2 triumph.

Dortmund are one of three teams yet to lose a game in the league this season with the others being Bayern and Leverkusen.
