‘It was not a good time to play Arda Guler’ – Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says the game against Rayo Vallecano was not the right moment for Arda Guler to make his debut.

The youngster was named on the bench for the first time this season following his arrival from Fenerbahce this summer.

However, the Turkey international had no minutes in the tensed game at the Santiago Bernanbeu with Madrid firing blank against their city rivals.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti explained the decision not to throw the teenager on for the latter part of the game.

“Arda Güler not playing tonight? It was not the time. In the last minutes, there was a lot of fighting, a lot of high balls, it was not the time. With Arda we have to go calmly,” he told the media.

“He has started training with us and will soon start playing.”

Having been available once again for Ancelotti, the attacking-minded midfielder will hope to get minutes when Madrid face Braga in the Champions League in midweek.
